Southampton’s home and away kits for next season have not gone down well with plenty of fan son social media.
The Saints are sponsored by Under Armour, with the American sports brand locked into a seven-year deal at St Mary’s.
Effective from July 2016, the deal was centred around the clothing manufacturer delivering six key pledges:
- Relentlessly innovate and create revolutionary product enabling our first team to perform at the highest level
- Continue to develop the next generation of academy talent and empower them with over 5,000 pairs of cutting-edge footwear over the next seven years
- Work with the Saints Foundation and kit out more than 5,000 children in the local community
- Develop the women’s and girls game through our shared expertise and knowledge
- Realise our global ambitions by spreading the benefits of sport and healthy living through technology and activations
- Together we commit to having fans and innovation at the heart of everything we do
However, it appears as though they do not have the full support of fans after their kit for the 2019/20 season was revealed on Friday morning.
Featuring a large black strip of the traditional red and white strips on the home kit and a grey and yellow away strip, fans have reacted poorly to the release on social media.
Despite featuring England star Nathan Redmond and Mario Lemina in the promotional campaign (which was a satirical take on the infamous Fyre Festival) it seems the kits will struggle to fly off shelves.
