Arthur Melo: Barcelona midfielder’s ‘house broken into and brother threatened with screwdriver’ hours after Liverpool match

Police are chasing two individuals who broke into Arthur Melo’s house hours after Barcelona’s Champions League defeat of Liverpool, reports claim.

Arthur, the midfielder, was an unused substitute for Wednesday’s 3-0 win at Camp Nou, though his post-match celebrations were cut short due to the home invasion.

According to Mundo Deportivo, two individuals broke into Arthur’s home in the Catalan city during the late hours of Wednesday evening, armed with a machete and a screwdriver.

One of the individuals is alleged to have threatened Arthur’s brother by holding the screwdriver to his neck, after he entered the house while the robbery was taking place.

A housekeeper is also understood to have been present.

The report claims the thieves got away with a Rolex watch as well as several jewels, with a report of the incident filed on Thursday morning.

Despite being threatened, Arthur’s brother remained unhurt and was able to call the Barcelona midfielder as soon as the individuals left the premises.
