Three men have been charged following disorder at the Edinburgh derby on Saturday.
A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with throwing a flare, a 16-year-old in connection with throwing a coin and a 38-year-old in connection with using racist language.
A fan also launched a coconut onto the pitch during the game – which provoked some hilarious reaction on social media.
Police Scotland are also investigating after footage was posted on Twitter which purported to show racist abuse directed at Hibernian midfielder Marvin Bartley during the side’s 2-1 win over Hearts.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a report of a hate crime at Tynecastle Stadium.
“The incident happened on Saturday, April 6, and was reported to police on Monday, April 8.”
Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out has stressed the urge for stronger action from social media companies.

A spokesperson said: “We have long campaigned for social media companies to take swift and decisive action against people who use their platforms for hate speech.
“Twitter say abuse and harassment has ‘no place’ on its site but it is obvious that there really is a place for it there and in our view the problem is getting worse. We note that Twitter has a ‘Hateful Conduct Policy’ and internal technology but evidently neither is deterrent for the racists.

“We would ask all the social media companies to put a lot greater resources into finding, reporting and excluding these people and co-operating with the police to make sure they are punished.
“Footballers, like anyone in society, are entitled to go about their work without being abused, intimidated or trolled.”
A Twitter spokesperson said: “While we welcome people to express themselves freely on Twitter, we do not tolerate behaviour that crosses the line into abuse, hateful conduct or harassment.
“Abuse and harassment – no matter who the victim – have no place on Twitter. Our team uses proprietary-built internal technology to proactively find abusive content and provides users with a single report that they can email to the police.
“Our Hateful Conduct Policy prohibits the promotion of violence against – or threats of attack towards – people on the basis of certain categories such as race and ethnic origin. As per these policies, we take strong enforcement action if an incident violates our rules.”
