Manchester United were put in their place by local rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night following their 2-0 defeat to the Premier League leaders.
Strikes from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane secured the win at Old Trafford and also meant City tightened their grip on the title race against rivals Liverpool.
United can take some heart from the game as they did cause their opponents some problems but City turned the screw when they needed to and were too good for the Red Devils.
It got to the point where United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just threw on strikers in the hope of making a sudden difference to the result.
This included Alexis Sanchez, who replaced Matteo Darmian on 83 minutes.
Sanchez has had a miserable time at Old Trafford since moving from Arsenal in January 2018, scoring just three goals in 30 Premier League appearances for United.
And although it would have taken a spectacular effort for Sanchez to have any kind of impact against City, there was more embarrassment for the Chilean at the end of the game.
