Forget Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah, Raheem Sterling has been the best this season, says ex-Manchester City striker Paul Dickov

Paul Dickov believes Raheem Sterling has outperformed fellow Premier League forwards Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah this season.

The former Manchester City striker joined the Sports Breakfast on Tuesday morning, as Alan Brazil and Dean Saunders debated who is the best player in the Premier League.

A wonderful display from Hazard during Chelsea̢۪s 2-0 victory over West Ham on Monday night, featuring an incredible solo effort, has seen Jamie Carragher describe the Belgian as England̢۪s best.

Meanwhile, only Sergio Aguero has more goals than Salah̢۪s 18 in the top-flight this term.

Nonetheless, Dickov believes Sterling has been the standout forward this season.

â€Å“Eden Hazard, in the form that he was in last night, he’s unplayable. I think he’s one of the best players in the world,” the former striker told talkSPORT.

â€Å“To try and pick between Hazard, Sterling, Salah and Aguero is too diffiuclt because they’re completely different players.

â€Å“But this season, if you had to pick one of those players to win PFA Player of the Year, for me it would be Raheem Sterling.

â€Å“Whoever wins the league, it’ll be Sterling or [Virgil] Van Dijk who will win it.”

Liverpool defender Van Dijk, the overwhelming favourite to claim this season̢۪s individual prizes, has revealed that Sterling got his vote for PFA Player of the Year.

â€Å“I did what I thought and I thought he deserves it. He’s had a fantastic season,” the Dutchman said.

â€Å“I think I could have voted for Bernardo Silva as well and another couple of players from Manchester City.

â€Å“But I am just being honest. I think he has improved a lot as a player. We will see if he wins it.”

Sterling is alleged to have voted for Tottenham forward Harry Kane, an England team-mate of his.
